I have just read that in addition to AT&T WorldNet $14.95), now Cable &Wirless
is re-launching thier new dial-up service. It is $14.95 a month for 56k/33.6k
access. The account includes a 150 hours of online useage, web hosting,
newfeed, etc. Competition is creeping up on the small ISP market. Initially
coming from a telcom background and watching the same thing happen in the early
90's with long-distance rates, this comes as no surprise. The answer: Take on
advertising revenues to compete against the big boys and subsidize dial-up
accounts with ad dollrs. Want to know how? E-mail me privately.

Jason,

Read the fine print. The $14.95 is only for a limited time and you have to
sign-up for AT&T's overpriced long distance to continue reaping the benefit
of this price. C&W is likely doing something along the same lines. Why
don't you just spam the list openly and tell us how your ad revenue plan
works... hmmm? This is after all a marketing list. Please be as brief as
possible. ;)

Isn't C&W MCI? MCI has been offering $14.95/mo for a long time now.

MCI had to sell-off their mciInternet division in order to precede with the
Worldcom merger - C&W was the buyer.

I'm not too sure how the MCI.NET stuff is laid out now. MCI sold off everything
Internet to Cable & Wireless, then merged with Worldcom. Now they are called MCI
Worldcom. So I'm not always 100% sure what people are referring to when they
talk about MCI & Internet stuff.
