Spring is here and summer is just around the corner! If you are a
teacher or administrator, what a great time to gather new ideas for
next year’s curriculum. If you are a parent, what better time to
supplement your child’s learning at home. Give your student or child a
jump start on learning with Zoo-phonics, a popular, fun and effective
reading, spelling and writing program, used by thousands of schools and
parents throught the nation.

Char Wrighton will be our featured chat guest on May 20th. Char holds
Master Degrees in Education and Curriculum with credentials in Regular
and Special Education. In addition, Char has a degree in
Administration.
From 1986-1991 Char taught credentialing classes for the University of
San Francisco and Chapman College. She continues to train teachers and
parents on how o use Zoo-phonics as she devotes herself. She also
instructs workshops for college credit.

Zoo-phonics, a California-based educational company, is proud to
announce the release of the new Parent Kit, a playful, yet highly
effective, in-home teaching tool for parents to use with their children,
ages three to seven, to help them to become strong readers and spellers.

Says Char Wrighton, co-author of Zoo-phonics, “Our goal is to get
children ready for kindergarten and first grade. Too many children
are unnecessarily slipping through the cracks. It is hard to reverse
a child’s feelings of failure. We are confident that if children entered
kindergarten knowing the shapes and sounds of the alphabet — even
being able to read and spell simple words — they would be ahead of
the game.”

Besides being visual and auditory, Zoo-phonics is a kinesthetic
method for teaching phonics, reading and spelling. This allows a
child to learn by doing what she/he does best: wiggling and making
sounds.

Georgene “Gigi” Bradshaw and Charlene “Char” Wrighton
(award winning educators) and long time friend, and illustrator,
Irene Clark created the Zoo-phonics Program over 15 years ago.
Today, Zoo-phonics is used throughout the nation and overseas.

According to Bradshaw, “Kids love animals, so the learning process
becomes fun.

“The children use their bodies to move and learn...and learn quickly!”
adds Wrighton. Until now, Zoo-phonics has enjoyed much success in
thousands of classrooms as a teaching tool for educators. “

The parent/child-friendly materials and concepts, in the new
Zoo-phonics Parent Kit, will make it easy for a parent to give their
child a jump on reading, spelling and writing and/or to supplement
school curriculum. States Wrighton, “We also want to train parents,
free of charge, to use the Parent Kit and to learn how to create
literacy
moments – whether in a restaurant, the car, waiting for a doctor’s
appointment, or in the grocery store.”

Every aspect of the Zoo-phonics Program has been field-tested and
found to be effective. The best advocates of the Program are the
children themselves who learn to read quickly and effortlessly with
the help of their animal friends. Don’t be surprised if your child asks,
“May we play Zoo-phonics now?”
