Erm, are you, in fact, typing "pdisc"? The program is "pdisk", with a "k", though in bash if you type "pdi<TAB>" it should autocomplete to the correct name, if you're root. This might also solve your problem with the rpm queries.

On my machine, my ata drive is known as '/dev/hda'; otherwise, I don't know what the problem might be.

I have not been able to use pdisc from within Linux and am wondering if
anyone can explain why. If I type "pdisc"
at the prompt it returns something like
bash : unknown command
Same thing for "fdisc" by the way.
I figured this meant that pdisc hadn't been installed (I did a prett
standard install from the LinuxPPC 2K disc). So I tried to install the rpm
from the 2K disc. The console responded by telling me that it was already
installed. However when I used the "-q" option to see what version of pdisc
is already installed it tells me that pdisc is not installed. Strange. I
even tried the "--force" option to install pdisc-0.7-2 again. It seems to be
installing OK but when I checked after I was again told pdisc was not
installed. Nor can anything matching *pdisc* be found. Strange.
Meanwhile on the Mac OS side, pdisc says it can't open any files. (ie.
pdisk: can't open file '/dev/ata0.0')
Any idea where I am going wrong with all of this?
