Hi Dale,
for my student i'd like to realize the Hand gestures project in machinelearningforkids.
I'm using your guide but for me it is a little bit difficult and I'd like to have a demo/video showing how to do.
Do you have any video that can help me about hand gesture?
I'd like to use this for deaf students.
thanks

Sorry, I don't.

Is there a particular step I could help with?

Hi Dale,
I have the following problem. I'm not able to train and test. The button "train new machine for learning model" is disappeared.
How to reenable this?
thanks

Please can you share a screenshot of the screen where you expected the button to be

You're not able to train a model yet because you have not collected enough training examples

This is what the box on the right of your screenshot is explaining - using Google translate to turn it into English, I get this (emphasis added):

> Now what?

> Keep going!

> Go back to the Training page and collect more examples for each of the labels.

> The more you can get, the better it should learn, but you need at least five examples of each as an absolute minimum.

On the left box I see that there are two buckets where you have only 3 examples.

If you add two additional training examples for those buckets, you will get the button to train a model.

one question:
do we need to use for each projects in machinelearnigforkids a template?
if I would that my students create new project without using template how to do?
If it is possible do you have any example to show me?
thanks

Do you mean further to what is already in the worksheet at https://machinelearningforkids.co.uk/worksheets ?

> do we need to use for each projects in machinelearnigforkids a template?

No, as with any non-machine learning use of Scratch, you can naturally create whatever you want.

The worksheets and templates are merely there to provide ideas and inspiration.

> if I would that my students create new project without using template how to do?

It's not very different from following a worksheet - just instead of following existing directions, you'd be making up your own steps.

please help me how to use hand gesture template?
It is very difficult to follow the steps described in the worksheet.
Could you do a video showing how to realize this project step by step?
thanks a lot

Sorry - no, I don't have time to do this at the moment.

You've picked one of the most complex projects from the list of worksheets (marked as "Advanced"). Have you considered picking one of the simpler ones instead to start with? It would be a better introduction than trying to start with the most advanced, most complex project. Even trying to do what you're doing but as an image project (as in the Beginner level worksheet "Snap!") would be far simpler.

Secondly, with respect, please note that I am a volunteer who creates these resources in their spare time - this is the work of my evenings and weekends. While I'm happy to put a lot of time into this because I think it is valuable, I do have other interests and responsibilities so there have to be some limits.

Kind regards

The webcam image block will get the current view from the webcam

screenshot-1.png

The add to training data block will add something to your training data

screenshot-2.png

Combining both of these will add the current view from the webcam to your training data

You don't have to do anything to store projects and avoid losing them once you've created an account.

If you store the project in the cloud, they will be accessible from any computer on the Internet.

If you store the project in your web browser, they will only be accessible from that web browser on that computer. (They will be lost if you clear your browser storage)

Do you have any work/ppt that you can provide me and support on the work I'd like to do?

For step-by-step instructions, see https://machinelearningforkids.co.uk/worksheets

For a story-based way of explaining some of the projects, see https://machinelearningforkids.co.uk/stories

For a discussion of some of the projects, how they work, and what they mean, see https://dalelane.co.uk/blog/?tag=mlforkids-tech

I think that's everything that I have

If you tick the "Whole class project?" checkbox when you create the project, that project will be available to all students in your class. They can all contribute training data, and they can all use the ML model.

(Alternatively, you can click on the Share button next to an existing project to do the same thing for a project if you don't tick "Whole class project" checkbox when you create it but then change your mind)

If you are referring to the Scratch project, then you could embed a recording of the running project - e.g. https://youtu.be/W1ud2rrzqhg

Kind regards
