New MLAO historical analysis suggests a slow decline in Mt. Lebanon's advance math and reading performance

Friends,
I have recently completed a new analysis of the Mt. Lebanon school
district's performance, this time looking at trends over the past
eight years.
In both math and reading, for three years running, our performance at
the advanced levels of achievement have been below our averages for
the prior three-year period. That our performance is down for three
years running is unlikely to be the result of measurement error: it
suggests a real decline.
The PSSA results for 2010, however, are slightly improved over 2009,
providing some reason to hope that the decline is being countered. But
it's too early to tell. We will continue to monitor the trend, to see
which way it breaks.
