Dear Prof. Nagananda and team,
I would love to contribute to this discussion but have already setup Skype meeting with CDAC-K a week ago!
However, please do note my inputs below, specifically for 5th and 6th semester:
1. Courses should be designed to focus on two primary stakeholders - Industries and further studies
2. It would be worth while to introduce 2 or more programming languages and implementation based subjects, also to improve analytical skills - focusing on specifics of how a job interview is to take place
3. For further studies, we need to look at the broad aspects of biomedical engineering in institutes abroad and India and look at their core courses/requirements for masters: this could serve as electives and/or required subjects. This should however be moderated with local expertise/experience in TLP.
4. One should encourage exchange programmes like the ones with IKC with Prof. Ramesh Babu and/or PES U
5. The specific subjects should be a consequence of this thought process and this is where the TLP oriented faculty in the team could play critical roles as they would be able to align themselves with a specific category and reach out
6. One last input: one should also focus intensely on the needs of the biomedical engineer jobs in hospitals and give them a hands-on training during these two semesters.
Hope this helps!
I will try and join at 3:30 if I am able to wrap up the meeting early.
