Hi,

Need clarification on Question 2.b to compute f(x).

(mu1 - mu2) ^ t.

mu1 and mu2 is computed from the means of class1 and class2 and we
take a difference, but how does a Transpose of the result
is going to affect the result ? since its not a vector right ?

and in the denominator we have || mu1 - mu2 ||, i guess the double
line "||" is a norm of the element (mu1 - mu2).

I used a function "norm" in MatLab, i dont see any difference.

Am i missing anything? Is my understanding right?

Could you please give your suggestions.

Thanks,
Vijayakumar Raju

The mean of a multi-variate data is a vector. For example, if data is 2-dimensional the mean also is 2-dimensional.
|| || is the 2-norm of a vector (same as matlab norm() ).
