This Friday, together with YSU AI Lab we are hosting
Dr. Harutyun Shahumyan for a seminar on his work on
Towards Ethical AI: Understanding, Evaluating, and Mitigating Bias in Healthcare.
About the seminar
The seminar will address the critical and complex issue of AI bias in healthcare, highlighting how algorithmic systems can inadvertently reinforce disparities in medical treatment and outcomes. Through a dive into the origins and mechanisms of bias in AI models, the session will explore how data quality, model design, and systemic factors contribute to unequal performance across patient groups. Attendees will gain practical insights into evaluating and mitigating bias, with a focus on promoting group fairness and ensuring that AI-driven healthcare solutions are both ethical and effective.
