Dear Colleagues,

We are organizing a Special Session: “AI-Powered Innovations for Circular Economy: Advancing Sustainable Recycling” at the IEEE 10th International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry (RTSI), 16-18 August 2026 at Aalto University in Espoo, Finland.

Conference track list: https://2026.ieee-rtsi.org/track-list/

SCOPE:

In recent years, artificial intelligence has become a key enabler of the circular economy, driving the transition from traditional waste management systems to intelligent, automated and efficient recycling solutions. This session will focus on how AI can be used to enable sustainable recycling and circular economy systems. Contributions on AI-driven recycling, robotics for disassembly, computer vision for waste sorting, edge AI for real-time processing and data-driven optimization for the recovery of resources such as WEEE, batteries, plastics and critical raw materials are welcome.

TOPICS INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • AI-based waste sorting and automated disassembly
  • Robotics and computer vision for recycling systems
  • Edge AI for real-time waste processing
  • Predictive analytics and recyclability assessment
  • Circular supply chains, digital twins, and blockchain applications
  • Case studies and industrial applications in circular economy

IMPORTANT DATES:

Deadline for submissions: 05 June 2026

Notification of papers acceptance: 15 June 2026
