The research group led by Sebastian Stich at the CISPA Helmholtz Center in Saarbrücken (Germany) has an open PhD position for a 4-year PhD program.

Possible research topics during your PhD include theory and algorithms for
- federated and collaborative learning
- privacy preserving machine learning
- fairness, robustness, personalization
- efficient training methods for transformer models
- learning from medical data (the position can be associated with a joint Helmholtz AI research project)

The position is fully funded and offers excellent working conditions, including a competitive salary, social security, 30 days of vacation, spacious offices, and generous travel support. Participation in teaching is encouraged but not required.

**Candidate profile **
- Master in related discipline (Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, …)
- Admission with a bachelor’s degree is possible for excellent candidates

**Time frame**
The starting date is flexible, but an earlier start date is preferred.
