Job Offer at the University of Heidelberg

The Department of Computational Linguistics at the University of
Heidelberg seeks to fill a half-time position for a

Computational Linguist

at the earliest convenience. Initial duration is 1.5 years, with the
possibility of extension. Salary is according to the German scale TV-L
13/2.

We are looking for a skilled Computational Linguist who will join our
department for research and teaching in our Computational Linguistics
programs.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with the research team at the chair
for Linguistic Informatics on projects focussed on statistical natural
language processing, machine translation, and machine learning in general.

Teaching and administrative duties involve teaching courses in the
Computational Linguistics program and/or tutorial courses in scientific
writing and presentation skills (3.5 hours/week), and offering
individual advice for students in their final theses and student
projects. Basic German language skills will be advantageous.

The successful candidate holds a diploma in Computational Linguistics or
a related field, and has a profound background in mathematics and
possesses excellent programming skills (C/C++/Python).
