----------------------------------------------------------------------
PhD or Postdoc position in Machine Learning and Deep Learning
at the Machine Learning Group,
Department of Computer Science,
RPTU, Kaiserslautern, Germany

Meet Marius Kloft at NeurIPS in San Diego
or Sophie Fellenz at EurIPS for more information!----------------------------------------------------------------------
The ML group at RPTU in Kaiserslautern, Germany is recruiting
a highly motivated doctoral or post-doctoral researcher.
Kaiserslautern is the founding location of the German
National Research Center of Artificial Intelligence and
traditionally one of the most significant AI research
hubs in Germany.
The machine learning group at RPTU in Kaiserslautern
(
https://ml.cs.uni-kl.de/) develops innovate deep learning
methods for analysis of large amounts of data. The group has
developed effective deep learning methods and learning theory
for anomaly detection, generative machine learning, and
physics-informed deep learning. The group has been successfully
applying these methods in various application domains, including
engineering, health, computer vision, text analysis,
computational biology, computer security, and agriculture.
The candidates are expected to conduct their research
and at the same time contribute to ongoing projects.
Successful candidates can be given lots of opportunity
to work with undergraduate, M.Sc., and Ph.D. students.
Currently, the group comprises 16 PhD students,
but only two postdoc. So, there is plenty of opportunity
for postdocs to involve in exciting research and advise
PhD students.
Most of the research will be basic research on new
machine learning methods, but there is also the opportunity
to contribute to interesting application projects.
A successful PhD-doc applicant should either have a msc degree
in CS (specialization in AI or theory) or a similar quantitative
discipline (e.g., physics, statistics, or math).
A successful Post-doc applicant should either have a PhD in
computer science and a good track record of research publications
in the ML community or an excellent PhD in theoretical physics
or math. If you are a physicist or mathematician, we are
confident that we can convert you into a great ML postdoc. ;)
Positions can be given with a mutally agreed contract duration
up to maximally 48 months. Payment will be according to the
competitive German TVL E-13 payment scheme, depending on the
candidate's experience and qualifications.
Applications are submitted by email to
kloft[at]cs[dot]uni-kl[dot]de AND
fellenz[at]cs[dot]uni-kl[dot]de
using subject
'Application for a [PhD|Postdoc] Position in the ML Group'.
There is no official deadline. We will continue to monitor the
applications.
In your application, please include a cover letter (including

(if you have reference letters available please directly
send them with your application), and teaching and
research statements.
Applicants are cordially invited to contact Marius Kloft and
Sophie Fellenz informally by email or in person for further inquiries.
Next week, Sophie Fellenz will be at EurIPS in Copenhagen, and
Marius Kloft will be at NeurIPS in San Diego.
Availability of the position is not formally guaranteed until
the contract is signed. For further information inquire with
Marius Kloft and Sophie Fellenz.
