The Neurorobotics Lab (https://nr.informatik.uni-freiburg.de), headed by Prof. Joschka Boedecker, at the University of Freiburg offers a full-time PhD position (m/f/d, E 13 TV-L, 100%, 3 years) on reinforcement learning for autonomous driving.
In this position, the PhD candidate will work in a team together with a major player from the automotive industry to develop new algorithms that combine model-based planning methods with reinforcement learning for finding smarter and safer autonomous driving solutions.
Regarding our lab, we are interested in applying reinforcement on a broad spectrum of real-world applications, from robotics, autonomous driving, biology to neuroscience and health applications. Furthermore, the lab is part of the ELLIS unit Freiburg, the Department of Computer Science, and the BrainLinks-BrainTools Center.
