The Natural Language Processing Section at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen and the Pioneer Center for AI, Denmark invite applications for a PhD scholarship in Interpretable Natural Language Understanding with a start date of 1 September 2025. The Natural Language Processing Section at the University of Copenhagen provides a robust, international, and diverse environment for research on both foundational and emerging topics in natural language processing. The successful candidate will join the CopeNLU research group, a vibrant and collaborative group led by Isabelle Augenstein and Pepa Atanasova.

The PhD fellowship is offered with Pepa Atanasova as the primary project supervisor, and co-supervised by Isabelle Augenstein. The successful candidate will engage in developing innovative methods for interpreting and explaining the inner workings of natural language processing models. The research will broadly align with the main interests of the primary supervisor and the objectives of the CopeNLU group.
