Hello All,
Two postdoctoral positions are available at the NICHE Research Group, Faculty of Computer Science, Dalhousie University in the area of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare. In broad terms, the research program covers research in developing and applying AI methods, particularly state-of-the-art machine learning (inclusive of deep learning), to investigate and analyze health data for outcome predictions, survival analysis, health system optimization, patient phenotyping, precision medicine and clinical decision support.
Applicants are required to hold a recently completed PhD degree in Computer Science, with particular AI focus in machine learning, knowledge graphs, XAI. The applicants should be well familiar with machine learning frameworks. Research experience in health data analytics will be a significant bonus. The applicant needs to demonstrate expertise to conduct both theoretical and applied research in the development and application of state-of-the-art AI-driven solutions. In addition, the postdocs will be required to take part in application development activities (as the solution will be implemented as a decision support system in a hospital setting) and are required to demonstrate both interest and experience in application development using Java technologies and data analytics tools.
Interested candidates are requested to send an application by email to Dr. Syed Sibte Raza Abidi (
ssra...@dal.ca). The application should consist of a curriculum vitae, 1-2 page letter of intent describing research interests and plans, and contact information for 3 referees (they will be contacted after the applicant has been interviewed). Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position initially will be for one-year with the possibility for renewal. The position is available now, although start time is somewhat flexible. The application process is now open and will conclude with the hiring of the postdocs.
Applicants who are Canadian work permit holders, permanent residents/citizens will be given preference.
The NICHE Research group (
https://niche.cs.dal.ca) conducts interdisciplinary research targeting AI solutions for a range of healthcare issues. The group comprises around 15 members from both computer science, medicine and health informatics backgrounds. At any given point, the group is involved in multiple collaborative research initiatives with a range of medical specialities. Group members get the opportunity to work on multiple projects and interact with medical professionals.
The postdoc will work at Dalhousie University (
https://www.dal.ca) which is one of Canada’s U15 group of research-intensive universities, and housed at the Faculty of Computer Science (
https://www.dal.ca/faculty/computerscience). The Faculty of Computer Science is fast growing covering all major computer science areas, and encourages multidisciplinary research.
