Siri - EPM -Machine Learning & Data Science Search

Job Summary

The Siri Search team is creating groundbreaking technology for knowledge graphing and algorithmic search using machine learning, natural language processing, and artificial intelligence. We are looking for an experienced project/product manager to lead projects in search relevance, query understanding, and machine learning. As part of the Siri Search Relevance and Machine Learning PM group, you will build and apply cutting edge machine learning and data science technologies to solve the cutting edge challenges we face in improving the search experiences for our over 1 billion customers. You will be part of a fast moving, innovative team where your expertise to drive the machine learning projects could be a lot more impactful to the future of machine learning for Search at Apple.

Key Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering, PM, or research experience working on machine learning projects.
• Strong analytical skills and a curiosity to peel the onion to discover opportunities for impact and better user experience.
• Keen interest in connecting ML technologies with real world search challenges.
• Foundational understanding of modern machine learning development techniques.
• Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining large scale machine learning systems.
• Ability to influence teams to adopt best practices in delivering various effective machine learning models.
• Capability to work across a large number of teams to enforce process and efficient outcomes in a data-driven environment.

Description

Lead the roadmap for search relevance continuous improvement and keep the team focused on critical path. Communicate project status clearly to leadership and exec team. Drive search relevance teams to build and enhance state of the art models. Analyze user quality metrics, propose improvement actions, design and deploy successful A/B experiments. Lead machine learning best practices in Siri team. Collaborate with other Apple teams to promote cross-team technology sharing.

Education

MS or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or related engineering degrees with focus in machine learning, data mining or statistics.

Siri - Human Annotation EPM

Job Summary

The Siri Search team is building groundbreaking technology for knowledge graphing and algorithmic search using state of the art machine learning, natural language processing, and artificial intelligence technologies. We’re looking for someone to lead program management efforts for human annotation at Siri. In this role you will lead the tooling roadmap definition, annotation strategy, budget, and vendor management to scale Siri human annotation to support the next generation of ML features. Additionally, you will be the expert on human annotation, raising the bar for effective and efficient utilization of human judgment in machine learning at Siri. You will work with premier engineering and product teams to serve over 1 billion customers, building the highest quality user experience that Apple customers expect and love.

Key Qualifications

• 7+ years experience as an PM, Engineering Manager, or similar role leading cross functional product or software engineering teams
• 3+ years experience in leading large scale human annotation efforts or working on ML projects that involve large scale of human annotation data collection
• 3+ years experience in vendor management
• Proven capability to set direction and work across a large number of partners to implement process and efficient outcomes in a data-driven environment
• Experience in experimental design, industry research, or academic research 
• Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated process optimization capabilities required to forge a path to success
• Phenomenal attention to detail and organized
• Extraordinary communication and presentation skills, written and verbal, to all levels of an organization
• The ability of building a new program/process from the group up including defining requirements, driving agreements from multiple teams and executing towards a successful completion
• Experience with budgeting and finance management is a strong bonus

Description

Lead roadmap, detailed execution of future human annotation platforms and programs as well as annual plus quarterly human annotation budget planning for Siri Drive Apple wide initiatives to scale human annotation tooling and process Lead allocations of grading resources across Siri teams Partner with procurement and vendors to meet human annotation resource demand Liaise between Siri teams and annotation teams to ensure quality results Organize data sharing initiatives for Siri teams to maximize utilization and value generation of our human grading data assets Establish efficacy and efficiency best practices for human annotation at Apple

Education

BA/BS, MA/MS or PhD in Linguistics, Communication Studies, Journalism, Information Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related fields/experiences
