*** Fully funded PhD and PostDoc positions in ML at TU Kaiserslautern ***

The newly established

Algorithms for Machine Learning Group (https://laue.ai),

headed by Prof. Dr. Sören Laue at the TU Kaiserslautern invites applications for Ph.D. and PostDoc positions.

The group focuses on efficient optimization methods for machine learning and deep learning. This includes designing, analyzing, and implementing new optimization algorithms for classical machine learning problems as well as optimization schemes for deep learning. Examples of the group's work include https://www.MatrixCalculus.org and https://www.geno-project.org. Furthermore, the group's goal is to thoroughly analyze and improve deep learning architectures. High emphasis is placed on publications at top-tier conferences, like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, or AAAI.

TU Kaiserslautern is the founding location of the German National Research Center of Artificial Intelligence and is traditionally one of the most significant AI research hubs in Germany. It offers a strong research environment, an international atmosphere, and comfortable working & living conditions. There will be possibilities for collaborations with other researchers from TU Kaiserslautern, as well as groups at the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, and the German National Research Center of Artificial Intelligence.

In case of any questions, feel free to contact Sören Laue (la...@cs.uni-kl.de).

If you are highly motivated, have a solid background in ML, CS, math, and solid Python or C++ programming skills, you are welcome to apply by sending your CV, academic transcripts, final thesis (draft), and a short research statement (about 1/2 page) to la...@cs.uni-kl.de using the subject ‘Application for Ph.D. position’ or ‘Application for PostDoc position’.
