Amid rapid advancement in AI, ShanghaiTech University launched the ShanghaiTech AI Initiative in early 2026 to proactively navigate AI's impact on education, research, and industry. The initiative positions AI as a core driving force: an accelerator for educational evolution, a catalyst for research breakthroughs, and a gravitational field for talent.

Under the AI initiative, we invite applications for tenure-track and tenured faculty positions at all ranks (Assistant, Associate, Full Professor) in Artificial Intelligence and related areas within the School of Information Science and Technology (SIST).

Research Areas

We seek outstanding candidates working in cutting-edge AI:

• Core AI Algorithms, including, but not limited to, areas such as machine learning and deep learning, generative models and foundation models, multimodal learning and reasoning, reinforcement learning and decision intelligence, computer vision, natural language processing, and embodied artificial intelligence.
• AI Systems, including, but not limited to, areas such as parallel and distributed computing, computer architecture, and compilers.
• Integration of AI in Science and Engineering, including, but not limited to, AI for integrated circuits, energy, and communications.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, AI, or a closely related field
• Strong research track record or demonstrated potential for impactful work
• Commitment to excellence in research and teaching
• Ability to teach and communicate in English (international environment)
