We invite applications for a fully funded PhD position
in cross-lingual Natural Language Processing, under the
joint supervision of Lea Frermann (Melbourne
University) and Omri Abend (Hebrew
University). The project is based in Melbourne, and includes a one
year research stay at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
The research focuses on cognitive models of bilingualism for
improved cross-language model transfer. More details on the

The position is open until filled, with preferred commencement
in early- to mid-2021. Ideal candidates will have a masters
degree in natural language processing or a related field; a
demonstrated interest in machine learning and cognitive modeling;
and a strong motivation to deliver excellent research outcomes. We
offer a thriving, cross-disciplinary and international research
environment, embedded in two strong and growing NLP groups in
Melbourne and Jerusalem.
