The Natural Language Understanding Science Team in Alexa Shopping (Seattle) is looking for exceptional PhD students to apply to the intern program for summer 2021. We are part of the Alexa Shopping Science organization, whose mission is to conduct customer-centric research in ML, NLP, and IR and devise state of the art algorithms to help shape the next generation of conversational shopping assistants.

As a Science Intern, you will help us develop innovative models and algorithms and apply them to large-scale Natural Language Understanding tasks. You'll be paired with a mentor, receive support from your manager and have access to the entire Amazon employee community to ensure your success. You will also have an opportunity to publish your work at the top-tier NLP or ML conference and expand horizons of NLU science. The internship is 12-14 weeks long.

Whether you're graduating and seeking a full-time position after your internship, or hoping to return for another internship next year, you'll be considered for a returning offer during your internship.

Position requirements:

·      Currently enrolled as a PhD student in a top university

·      Scientific background in NLP, Conversational AI, or ML

·      Proven publication record in leading NLP/ML conferences and/or journals

·      Solid coding capabilities

·      Great communication skills

·      Creativity and open-mindedness
