Dear colleagues,

I would like to share an opportunity for students and early-career engineers who are interested in developing advanced expertise in robotics, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems.

The University of Lincoln is now welcoming applications for the MSc Robotics and Artificial Intelligence:

This one-year full-time MSc is aimed at students with a background in computer science, engineering, robotics, artificial intelligence, or related technical disciplines who want to build the skills needed to design, implement, and evaluate intelligent robotic systems. The programme combines advanced taught modules with a substantial individual research project, giving students the opportunity to engage with topics such as robot programming, autonomous navigation, machine learning, computer vision, physical AI agents, and intelligent decision-making.

A distinctive feature of studying robotics at Lincoln is the close connection with the Lincoln Centre for Autonomous Systems Research, L-CAS. L-CAS is one of the UK’s most active robotics research centres, with internationally recognised expertise in mobile robotics, robot perception, learning, control, human-robot interaction, manipulation, service robotics, and field robotics. Our work spans multiple application domains, including agri-food, healthcare, logistics, inspection, service robotics, and autonomous systems operating in challenging real-world environments.

Lincoln is also a particularly exciting place for students interested in agricultural robotics and field autonomy. The University has a strong research profile in agri-robotics, with projects addressing perception, mapping, navigation, monitoring, intervention, and intelligent automation for future food production. This creates an excellent environment for students who want to work on robotics with practical impact, especially in sustainability, precision agriculture, and resilient autonomous systems.

Beyond the formal curriculum, students can engage with Lincoln’s broader robotics community through LCASTOR, our active student-led robotics competition team. LCASTOR gives motivated students the chance to work collaboratively on real robotic platforms, contribute to competition systems, develop practical engineering skills, and learn from peers, PhD students, researchers, and academic staff. For students who want to go beyond coursework and gain hands-on experience in competitive robotics, it is a valuable and highly distinctive part of the Lincoln robotics ecosystem.

Graduates from the MSc will be well positioned for careers in robotics, AI, automation, autonomous systems, computer vision, intelligent manufacturing, agri-tech, and research and development. The programme also provides a strong preparation for students interested in progressing towards PhD research in robotics, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems.
