This position is a key part of the University's AI initiative, aimed at bolstering our leadership in AI and Deep Learning, and Foundation Models. The role will significantly enhance the capabilities of our Center for Data Analytics and support interdisciplinary research across the university.
Your position
The new professor will enhance the research portfolio of
the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and contribute to
teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. They will be expected
to foster interdisciplinary research collaborations across various
departments and affiliated institutions, and thus strengthen the
University of Basel's contributions to solving complex global challenges
through AI.
Your profile
We seek candidates with an outstanding research record
in foundation models, in particular large language models. Candidates
are expected to have a strong record of interdisciplinary work, for
example in medicine or life sciences, who address key issues in AI such
as reproducibility, safety, trustworthiness and robustness, and who
engage with the theoretical and algorithmic foundations of AI. A strong
commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and
mentorship is essential. We seek candidates who show promise in shaping
the future of AI through both their research and educational practices.
