[jobs] Three faculty positions at Université de Montréal & Mila: applied ML; R^3 AI; QML

The Department of Computer Science and Operations Research of Université de Montréal is seeking applications for three full-time tenure-track positions as an assistant professor with a strong background in computer science.

1) One for machine learning applied to health or climate change (post);

2) One for machine learning who will contribute to our research program towards a robust, reasoning and responsible AI (R3AI), which includes research in AI safety, robust control and probabilistic machine learning (post);

3) One for quantum machine learning, with an interest in applying their expertise in materials science (post).

These three positions come come with the possibility to become affiliated with Mila, one of the largest academic research group in deep learning worldwide and combining the strengths of Université de Montréal, McGill University, HEC and Polytechnique in a common beautiful location, with nearby access to many industrial research labs like Meta AI, Microsoft Research, ServiceNow, Borealis AI or Samsung SAIT AI Lab.

* The selected candidates for position 1) and 2) could be eligible for a Canadian CIFAR AI (CCAI) Chair. More information about the program here: https://cifar.ca/ai/canada-cifar-ai-chairs/ 

* The position 3) (quantum machine learning) can be at the rank of assistant or associate professor, depending on experience, and the successful candidate will be strongly considered for a Research Chair of Institut Courtois.

* Montreal is home to a very active ML community, including university-led institutes such as Mila that received considerable federal and provincial funding, industry-led ML research groups (Google, Meta, Microsoft, Samsung, Borealis, and several more), as well as a thriving ML startup community. Montreal is a historic and cosmopolitan city, home to no less than six universities, and considered one of the best cities for students.
