Subject: FG 2026 – Call for Nominations: Sustained Accomplishment Award
Dear all,
This year at IEEE International Conference on Automatic Face and Gesture Recognition (FG 2026), we are pleased to introduce the Sustained Accomplishment Award.
This award will recognize a senior scientist who has made innovative, long-lasting, and influential contributions to the field of face and gesture analysis and recognition, including multimodal approaches. The award honors individuals who have demonstrated vision in shaping the field, maintained a sustained record of high-impact research, pioneered new research directions, and substantially influenced the work of others through scholarship, mentorship, and leadership.
Please see the details below regarding eligibility, nomination, and selection procedures.
We warmly encourage members of the face and gesture research community to submit nominations.
Best regards,
FG 2026 Awards Chairs

Eligibility
The award is intended for senior researchers with a sustained and impactful track record in face and gesture analysis and recognition. Nominees should have made substantial technical and scientific contributions and demonstrated long-term influence on the direction and development of the field.
Nomination Process
The deadline for nominations is March 31, 2026.
The main requirement is a nomination statement (maximum one page, PDF) describing the principal achievements and impact of the nominee. The statement should clearly articulate the nominee’s sustained contributions and influence in face and gesture research. A link to the nominee’s personal webpage and CV may be included. The names of additional endorsers supporting the nomination may also be provided. Nominations may be submitted by any member of the face and gesture research community.
Nominations should be emailed to the FG 2026 Awards Chairs: Itir Onal Ertugrul (i.onale...@uu.nl) and Abhinav Dhall (abhina...@monash.edu). Please expect a confirmation of receipt.
Selection Process
The FG 2026 Awards Committee will review all nominations and determine whether to confer the award. The Committee may decide to present more than one award.
Conflict-of-interest procedures prohibit Awards Committee members from being considered for an award while serving on the committee. Committee members must also recuse themselves from evaluating nominees with whom they have had significant professional collaborations or from whom they have received financial remuneration.
