Call for Submissions and Reviewers: New in ML Workshop at NeurIPS 2023!

Hello everyone!

We are organizing the New in Machine Learning workshop at NeurIPS 2023 and are happy to announce our Call for Submissions!

The workshop will be held in person in New Orleans on December 11th, 2023, with invited speakers, a writing workshop, a panel, a job negotiation talk, and a poster session.

TL;DR: If you are a new student / identify as new in the ML field, consider submitting to the New in ML workshop at NeurIPS2023. If you are more senior, consider serving as a reviewer/mentor!

The goal of the workshop is to welcome new researchers into the community and provide them with guidance and an inclusive space to start their journey in machine learning. First-time conference attendees, underrepresented minorities and undergraduates interested in pursuing machine learning research are highly encouraged to participate.

We accept submissions in two tracks: extended abstract and reproducibility track (tex files and instructions attached).

Authors will be paired with a reviewer/mentor who will help them improve their submission providing guidance not only in terms of technical content but also in writing, and visualizations.

August 21, 2023, 11:59 pm AoE: Abstract submission open on OpenReview.
September 29, 2023, 11:59 pm AoE: Abstract submission deadline.
October 4, 2023, 11:59 pm AoE: Discussion with reviewer starts.

October 20, 2023, 11:59 pm AoE: Notification of acceptance (poster at the workshop).

We are also looking for volunteers to serve as mentors/reviewers for submissions to the workshop. Anyone with some familiarity with the usual reviewing process at ML conferences is welcome to apply. If you are interested in being a reviewer, you can fill out this form here. The reviewing period will take place October 4th-20th.
