Freebsd-update and reboots

I just did a freebsd-update for 15.0. Several updates were installed including: /boot/kernel/kernel.
However, never did it say a reboot was required. Shouldn't a reboot be necessary to be running the new kernel?

IIRC it never says that.

Use freebsd-version -r and freebsd-version -k and compare the version.
If they differ, do a reboot and compare again.
