Here's another extra ML should definitely implement: since 550D/T2i
supports exFat file system, which does not have anymore the 4GB file
limit, video recording should not stop automatically anymore.
Also there would be nice to remove the 29'59" limit also - GH1
firmware already has this.

exFAT do not play significant part here.
Why? Length and many other things are stored at 32bit registers.
So, necessary to rewrite large parts or firmware.
And I as I understand Trammel will never touch Canon firmware.
Some sort of agreement :-)

You misunderstand. exFat is ALREADY supported in Canon original
firmware of 550D, nothing to be done on this side by Trammel (this is
the first camera in the world which supports exFat and SDXC). All you
mentioned is already inthere.

All I am suggesting is to remove the file size check function, keep
recording without considering the 4GB file limit or the 29'59" time,
don't stop. That's it.

You really do not get my point.

Only file system part supports exFAT. You even don't know if this
means support for files >4Gb in Canon DSLRs.
Having support in exFAT spec do not mean that this is implemented.

But main part is all other AVCHD routines.
If they are not designed with 64bit file size in mind it won't work.

I'm not 100% sure you're right without even looking inside, but
however...

hey guys,

I think that a much easier way would be, after reaching the 4GB limit,
let the camera start to record another file immediately. On edition we
can easily link those videos together,

Trammel answered to me earlier on this idea, he said that experiments
were done on 5D by auto-restarting recording, unfortunately a few
seconds gap would still exist, it will not be frame-accurate.
