After when you finnish the downloads install the patch then extract the
cs16_play_on_steam.zip to the valve folder (of your non steam game)
- Edit your "SteamApp.cfg" Using notepad or something like that (.cfg its
located in valve folder):

don't forget the " " the password should be between "password", while your
username should not. just copy and paste it like its written above and
replace the data with your stuff. (valve dir, login, passw).
- Start steam (you must install steam, you can't play without it)
-> create a new account. Slect the option "remeber me" when you log in
-> let the update over
-> go to your steam folder (EX: c:\program files\steam) -> copy the
"ClientRegistry.blob" and paste the file in your game folder (non steam
folder)
-> Close steam. Right click on the icon in system tray (near windows clock)
and select exit NOT exit and logout
well, the clientregistry.blob is used for logging into steam. indeed, you
are faking a login process that's why the clientregistry.blob has to be
copied AFTER you logged into steam. it must be up-to-date.
- Go to your game folder and search the hl.exe (non steam valve folder. EX:
c:\Program Files\valve) -> right click on it and press "create shortcut" ->
go to the shortcut file properties and write "-steam -game cstrike" behind
the target name (for example "C:\Program Files\valve\hl.exe" -steam -game
cstrike <-- use the "")
can i play now?
you should be able to play now on all steam servers.

PS- that txt wasnt made specially for this tutorial, its for cs source but
its almost the same procedure so you can see some solutions for the error
you might have. if it talk about cs source think in non steam

HackerRabitt developed an exe and a batch file, the both files has a simple
code but can be useful, put the files in the same folder that you have
hl.exe and test both see what works with you. the files make the hl.exe open
with the commands like this: "C:\program files\valve\hl.exe" -steam -game
cstrike
i dont know exacly what commands it use but its something like that (or near
it )
