Asalaam Alaikum dear Brothers & Sisters,

Please see below some Bay Area Muslim community events for Jumm'ah, Friday March 27th, 2026 & the near future, InshaAllah.

1.    West Valley Muslim Association: CUP Update & Next Steps: Jazakum Allah Khair to all those who joined in person and on Zoom for the Planning Commission meeting. Thank you to all of those who also made dua. All the attendees were respectful throughout the meeting. We had some great community speakers, and their speeches showed how special WVMA and our Masjids are, how they provide a safe haven for us that is irreplaceable, and how we as a community support and help each other. We have a special bond among our community that is heartwarming and unmatched. Special thanks to the team that organized the speakers, going through multiple dry runs, organizing their order, and guiding them. Also, a special thank you to the volunteers who organized the attendees, directing them towards zones, showing where to park, bringing pizza and water, organizing Maghrib prayers, and making sure everyone was able to join and provide support. We also want to thank CAIR, and our friends who came from multiple congregations and commissions. The friendly relationships we have built over the years were critical in showing our welcoming nature. Most importantly, we want to thank our neighbors. We empathize with them, and we genuinely want to make it better for them through every means possible that is within reason. Many of them showed how they would like to work with us and want us in this neighborhood. We will extend our hand to them, and InshaAllah will make sure they are able to feel safe and happy living near us. The next steps are as follows: Continuation: Meeting on Tuesday, March 31 at 6 PM. You can attend in person and over Zoom. We are asking for a similar turnout. Public hearing: *The public hearing will continue, and the town will provide an opportunity for those who haven't spoken, especially on Zoom. *IMPORTANT: From our end, we are asking our community to NOT speak. We have made all the points we needed to make, plus more. Not every accusation or point needs to be rebutted, and not every little aspect needs to be answered. We also want to come to a conclusion quickly and vote on this matter. Hence, we are asking our community NOT to speak so we can come to a decision without any more extensions. Closing statement: We will make a closing statement, and this is where a few selected points will be rebutted and answered. Final vote: The Commission will take a final vote. Our expectation is that they will add additional conditions and then approve the conditional use permit. We will assess whether these additional conditions are acceptable to us, and then decide the next steps, which may be to appeal to the Town Council. Our hope is that there may be minor additional conditions, in which case we hope to conclude this matter. Otherwise, there will be a follow-up meeting with the Town Council in May or June. Please continue to make dua for our community, for our neighbors, and for the Commission and staff to provide the best outcome for everyone.

2.    Dear Community Members and Friends, As-Salaamu Alaikum, On Monday, April 13, 2026, we’re returning to Sacramento for Muslim Day at the Capitoland I would love for you to join us. This isn’t just another date on the calendar. It’s a day to show up, claim our space, and remind elected officials who they serve. Why Attend? Every year, walking the Capitol halls reminds me why advocacy matters. When we show up together—students, parents, professionals, elders—we send a powerful message: Muslims are organized, engaged, and here to demand action. At a time when decisions in Sacramento shape our safety, our rights, and our families' future, showing up isn't optional. It’s vital. Nothing replaces being in the room. Turning Presence Into Power. I’ve seen the difference our presence makes. When we fill the Capitol, lawmakers listen. Bills shift. Narratives change. For many, it’s the moment they realize democracy isn’t a spectator sport. It belongs to those who claim it. Mark Your Calendar. Don’t sit this one out. Mark your calendar now and bring someone with you—a friend, a family member, or your local masjid group. Let them see the strength of our community in action. Stay Connected. Registration details and legislative priorities are coming soon. Remember: we don't just show up to be seen. We show up to change what’s possible. I hope to see you in Sacramento, in sha'Allah. In solidarity, Zahra Billoo, Esq. Executive Director, CAIR-SFBA
