BUFLA is a Federation of many different Bangladeshi Organizations of the Greater Los Angeles Area in California, USA. (www.bufla.com)
Dear Friends,
BUFLA Signature is the colorful annual Bangladesh Day Parade on the major streets in the Little Bangladesh Area of the great city of Los Angeles in California USA, on the occasion of Bangladesh Independence Day. Many of the photographs and Videos of those colorful Parades over the last several years have been posted on the BUFLA Website at www.bufla.com.
However Charity has now become a very important part of BUFLA projects and activities. Here are some of the Charity activities that BUFLA has done so far:
1. Haiti Earthquake Disaster:
BUFLA started participating in charity activities in 2010 when Haiti was devastated by an earthquake, a natural disaster. Since then BUFLA has done several other charity programs:
2. Bangladesh Blanket Distribution Project
BUFLA has been distributing blankets in Bangladesh every year during winter when severe cold causes death of lot of people. Some of the photographs of that project are posted at the BUFLA website at www.bufla.com.
3. Savar Building Collapse Disaster in Bangladesh:
BUFLA did charity in Savar building collapse in Bangladesh last April. We selected six specific families from the many victims of this extremely tragic disaster and we deposited money directly into the Bank accounts of these victims. The photographs of the Savar victim families to whom BUFLA donated funds are posted on BUFLA website at www.bufla.com.
4. Typhoon Haiyan of Philippine:
Recently Typhoon Haiyan of Philippine which caused a death toll of more than five thousands and affected another thirty thousands who were left homeless. BUFLA raised money for the survivors of the Typhoon victims, and we handed over the charity check on December 17, 2013 to the Tzu Chi Foundation , a Buddhist organization that has been doing various charity work since day one of Typhoon Haiyan. Tzu Chi Foundation is a big Foundation and it has contributed more than 13 million dollars’ worth of charitable activities including medical support, rehabilitation, rebuilding homes etc., among other things.
5. Food Service to Homeless:
On December 27, 2013 Friday, BUFLA did a different type of charity event. We served 400 packs of food to the 400 homeless of LA missions in downtown Los Angeles during the lunch hour. We served those foods in 4 different groups of people. In the 1st group we served the food to the employees of LA mission who help in the food administrative department. In the 2nd group we feed the students of LA mission at about 11:30 AM. In the 3rd group we served food to the Spanish Chapel groups at 12:30 PM, and the 4th group we served the English Chapel group, a total of 400 people were served with delicious Bangladeshi food cooked at a local Bangladeshi restaurant named Deshi Restaurant in Los Angeles. The food was reported as being delicious by a lot of LA mission people. This charity event was highly appreciated by the LA Mission Administration.

The BUFLA Charity Committee is working with the functional support of the BUFLA-Cabinet and the BUFLA-EC. This Charity Committee is doing these Charity projects and activities with the financial support of the BUFLA-Cabinet, BUFLA-EC, BUFLA-AC, BUFLA-BOT, BUFLA-GA, and the Community members of the greater Los Angeles area and beyond.
