Thursday, May 15 2014

 

1.         Huron High School will not be offering "all-school” physicals this spring for student athletes.  You need to make other arrangements for your sports physical.

2.         Wednesdays and Friday in May ~ Don’t forget to wear your favorite hat on Wednesdays and flip-flops on Fridays in May. You must donate $1 or more each time you participate.  All proceeds will be donated to the Tanny Vonthron Memorial Scholarship Fund at the end of the school year.

3.         Thursday, May 15 ~ Attention any 8th graders interested in participating in cross-country next year. There will be a brief meeting held in the auditorium today, May 15th during your studyhall period.  Please plan on attending.  Contact coach Blevins at the high school if you have any questions.

4.         Thursday, May 15 ~ Your final “Mix-It-Up” Lunch will be held today, May 15th.  This time, you will be mixing seventh and eighth graders, so please listen closely to the schedule change you will have!

The following homerooms will eat lunch during the first lunch period:  Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Rowen, Mr. Schoenherr, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. James and Mr. Maleski.
These homerooms will eat lunch during the second lunch period:  Mr. Gundlach, Mrs. Aber, Mrs. Wennes, Mr. Demos, Mr. Kucbel and Mrs. Johnson.
Have fun and learn something new about your peers!
Teachers!  Please remember that your lunch and studyhall time will match that of your homeroom students.

5.         Friday, May 16 ~ New National Jr. Honor Society inductees are reminded that their acceptance response form and dues are due by this Friday, May 16.

6.         Friday, May 16 ~ Attention, eighth graders!  Class of 2018 tee shirts have been distributed.  If you would like to order one, stop by the office to pick up an order form.  Order form and payment must be received by Friday.  There will be absolutely no orders accepted after Friday.

7.         Friday, May 16 ~ Power of the Pen members!  This Friday, May 16, we will have a "Good Luck at State, Gabrielle" celebration during 7th period study hall in the Art Room.  All members are encouraged to come, eat lunch, have some cake, and wish Gabrielle Sasala well at the State Tournament at the College of Wooster on May 23rd!

8.         Monday, May 19 ~ Beginning Monday, May 19th, students may not charge lunches or extras in the cafeteria.

9.         Monday, May 19 ~ Attention, seventh and eighth grade girls interested in learning to play tennis!  There will be a brief meeting on Monday, May 19th, after school in the auditorium.

10.      Tuesday–Friday, May 20-23 ~ Letters regarding the end of the year dance were distributed to all homerooms last week.   If you did not receive a copy of the letter, ask your homeroom teacher for a copy.  Tickers for the dance will be sold Tuesday through Friday, May 20th-23rd.  You need to turn in the signed parent letter to purchase a ticket.

11.      Wednesday, May 21 ~There will be a meeting in the auditorium on Wednesday, May 21, for any 7th grade boy interested in playing 8th grade football next school year. 

12.      Tuesday, May 27 ~ Due to the re-scheduling of the SBC Track Meet, and the significant overlap of students participating, the NJHS Induction Ceremony has been moved to Tuesday evening, May 27, using the same time frame, 5:30p.m.  

13.      Attention, eighth grade boys interested in soccer!   Please stop by the office to sign up.

14.      July 12 ~ The Firelands Regional Medical Center Is proud to sponsor this year’s Huron River Fest 5k, Saturday, July 12th at 8:00 AM.  This year’s proceeds will go towards the Tanny Vonthron Scholarship Fund.  There is a 5k race and a 1k Fun run.  Walkers are welcome.  Race forms are available in the office or by asking your teacher.  You can also go to the Huron River Fest website:  huronriverfest.com for the form.

15.      The seventh and eighth grade Academic Challenge teams competed on Wednesday in the Erie County Meet.  The eighth grade team finished fourth overall and the seventh grade team placed first and will represent Erie County in the Tri-county championship on Monday.  Congratulations to all these students for their hard work.

16.      Seventh grade Academic Challenge members should report to the office during Channel 1 to pick up the field trip permission slip for Monday's meet.
