Club

Good Day:

We hope that you have all survived the blizzard of 2016 and are safely dug out and back to somewhat normalcy.  With that, we are respectfully asking that you do not use the golf course as a sledding venue.  We know it's tempting, but impede's our Green's crew from doing their job.  Thank you for your cooperation.

We will also have firewood available for Members once we can get it accessible.

EVENTS

Please note - if you are attending the Italian Night Dinner either Friday or Saturday, we encourage you to carpool, taxi or Uber.  We still have some very large snow piles to move and our main priority is your safety.  Even though we will have Valet available, there are many spaces compromised by the snow.

Sunday, February 14th - Valentine's Day.  Make your reservations now for a wonderful meal complimented by a glass of Champagne and live music.  For details on the menu please click the link below.

Thursday, February 25th - Distinguished Speaker Series featuring Former Representative Pete Hoekstra will be here to discuss his book "Architects of Disaster: The Destruction of Libya".

Tuesday, March 15th - Ambassador Thomas Pickering will discuss current events.

Good afternoon

We have firewood available for free.  If you are interested, please let the Golf Shop know.  That way if someone sees you on property, we know that it is legitimate.  Call 703-558-0563.  The wood is located inside the Driving Range gate on the left side.

Super Bowl Sunday, February 7th
The Grill hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  For the game, we are offering a free Chili bar in the Tap Room with all the fixings.

Dear Members:

Plans for a Member Roster is underway!  It is very important that you make sure the information we have on file is correct.  Please take the time to logon to the Club's website at www.washingtongolfcc.org, go to your Member Profile page and review your information.  Make any changes necessary.
We are in the early stages of this project, so just be aware that going forward, if you have any changes at all, remember to go to the site and update your profile.  This includes everything from change of addresses for  home and/or business, phone numbers (including cell if you wish) and new additions to your family.
If you have trouble navigating your Profile page, please send your updates to Mary Brayley at mbra...@washingtongolfcc.org and she will be happy to update your information.  Stay tuned for more details on this project.

DID YOU KNOW?
That WGCC has a Tee app?  Have the Tee right at your fingertips; just simply download the app to your mobile device by following the instructions below.

Finding and Using WGCC's The Digital Tee App

1.   The name of the App is "WGCC's The Digital Tee" Typing WGCC into The Apple App Store or Android App Store will be sufficient to bring up the App.

2.   If you have an old version of the App, please put it in the trash and upload the new version. Like all Apps ours needs to be updated periodically.

3.   Once you have the new App, you register to receive The Tee on the 1st of each month with your email address and the password "wgcc15". This is a universal password and is not the same one you would use to access the WGCC website, which is your personal password.

4.   If you have difficulty or the app doesn't recognize your email address, please email ni...@macduffconsulting.com and he will be glad to help. Copy Mary Brayley so she can update your email for the Club's records as well.

Photos
If you happen to have any photos that include the Club, i.e., Tennis, Fitness, Golf, Clubhouse, snow pictures, etc.) we would appreciate you sharing those with us as we build our photo album of Club activities.  You may email them to Mary Brayley at mbra...@washingtongolfcc.org or Patrick Tobey at pto...@washingtongolfcc.org. The higher the resolution quality, the better. Thank you in advance.

Upcoming Events
Saturday, February 13th, Valentine's Day.  SOLD OUT

Distinguished Speaker Series

Thursday, February 25th

Join Pete Hoekstra, the former chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, long-time Republican congressman from Michigan, business man and author, for a discussion about national security, foreign policy, immigration and politics.

Never to be underestimated, Dutch-born Pete Hoekstra shocked Michigan politics when he unseated a long-serving House member, Guy Vander Jagt, in the primary, and went on to become an influential member of Congress known for speaking his mind and standing up for his principles.  Mr. Hoekstra's new book, Architects of Disaster, addresses the tragic events in Benghazi and the foreign policy challenges in the Middle East.  Mr. Hoekstra is currently Senior Shillman Fellow at the Investigative Project on Terrorism.

Tuesday, March 15th -

Thomas Reeve (Tom ) Pickering, former United States Ambassador to six countries as well as to the United Nations, will join the Washington Golf Speaker Series for a discussion on foreign policy, diplomatic relations and national security.

Considered the "five star general of the diplomatic corps" Mr. Pickering was appointed by Republican and Democrat presidents to serve in key roles and at key times for the country. From posts in El Salvador to Israel to Russia, Mr. Pickering lived through crisis after crisis and has an inside view that few have experienced.

After his prestigious career in government, Mr. Pickering worked in the private sector as Boeing's Senior Vice President for International Relations.  He currently serves in leadership roles at the International Crisis Group, Council on Foreign Relations, Global Leadership Foundation, American Iranian Council, the Project on National Security Reform and the Center for the Study of the Presidency and the Congress, among other organizations.

Sunday, March 6th

Meet the Coaches from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Presidents Hall.  You will have the opportunity to meet staff from Pool, Golf and Tennis to discuss this year's schedule of events, programs, etc.

Please note that the Tap Room is closed this evening for a special Wine Dinner.  We will not be able to accommodate walk-ins for this event as space is limited.  The Men's Grill and Grill are open for regular business hours.

On another note, in last week's Weekly Update we mentioned that preparation for a new Member Roster is underway.  Please make sure your information is correct as we will be building our database from the information in your profile that is on the website.  It is important that you take the time to review your profile for accuracy.  And, while you are there, it is very easy to upload your photo not only for yourself, but for any family member.  Simply click on their name on your profile page and the photo box will appear in the upper right hand side of the page.  You hit "Upload Photo" and you can choose any photo from your personal files.

Having photos not only for you as the Member, but also your family is very helpful to the staff in many ways.  If you have difficulty doing any of the above, please feel free to contact Mary Brayley at 703-558-0551 or mbra...@washingtongolfcc.org.  Or send her your changes and the photo and she will be happy to edit it for you and upload your photo.
