WRITING WORKSHOP FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Writing Workshop is a successful model of teaching and
students who participate in this process of writing become stronger
writers and readers. In a workshop, there is equal time devoted to
practicing craft, learning skills, sharing and conferring with peers.
Writing Workshop is not a time to just spend learning
skills in isolation or focusing on composition…rather, it is a time to
practice using skills in context. It is a time to learn and practice
the craft of writing. Each week, students will read their work and
receive feedback from their peers.
This intense graduate seminar is intended for
international students. Students will form a community of writers and
readers that is not focused on the “skills & drills” of the English
language, but rather, the craft of the language. Through reflection,
response, feedback, and sharing, students will be immersed in the
language while participating in a community rich workshop environment.
