What: Taste of Melton - Art in the Bible
Taught by Gayle Adler, Jewish art educator

Description:
Where does Jewish art come from? We will learn some sources on the
place of art in Jewish ritual and explore several examples of Jewish
ritual art at the brand new exhibit of the Mizel museum: '4,000 Year
Road Trip: Gathering Sparks' and try your hand at creating your own
version of Hiddur Mitzvah, or beautification of a Jewish ritual. We
will make our own spice boxes to be used for Havdallah, the weekly
ritual marking the end of the Sabbath and the beginning of the new
week. As this will be a sample of the newest Melton Center Graduate
level course: Art in Jewish Texts, registration forms for the course
will be available. Information and a complete description of the
course is attached.
