A "social" meeting for the members of MMAA was held on Sunday, August
8, 2010 at the studio/home of Darcy Lewis.
Arel moderated the afternoon. The meeting lasted over 2.5 hours and
could have gone on longer. Everyone that was there was eager to talk
and was disappointed that more people didn't come.

Topics discussed included:
*1METAV 2 (theme for next year being "Tikkun Olam")
*How to update all email addresses, make sure that all artists are
indeed receiving the email notices of the goings on at MMAA
*the desire to have workshops or advanced Demos be the programming for
the upcoming MMAA season.
*the desire to check out Gallery 910 as an exhibition opportunity for
a show "Rituals of Life''

These topics included the discussion of the willingness of the members
to pick up a greater share of the costs of producing a quality show.
There was some discussion about the importance of " get togethers"
such as the one on the 8th to get to know each other and to share
frustrations, updates, techniques, celebrations.

The attending members expressed interest in having workshops in
Darcy's studio or Niza's gallery or studio on Sundays when there is
more time to spend learning. Another suggestion is to find out who the
Jewish artists who are represented in the DAM are and having a special
tour/talk about them.

Darcy offered the walls of her boutique as a place for 2D artists to
show their work.

A consensus seems to be that everyone is too taxed or overworked or
whatever and see the MMAA as a great group to belong to but are not
interested in "ownership'' in the group. They want to participate at
their own interest level in the group-depending on what the group has
to offer. They were very positive about what I (Arel) have done so far
with the group, and pretty much want that to continue.

suggestions for workshops:

making paper with Rick Sargent
golden paint workshop
Images under glass
Felting
paper mache
social Events
Meditation night using art/ Jewish?
Art therapy-but more hands on than last year's lecture
"Art Night"-guided art playing exercises for fun and stress relief
Perhaps having some kind of sale at a local synagogue during the "off
season''

I would appreciate everyone who reads this post respond to
14a...@gmail.com this may become the new email for outgoing posts to
the group.

Will there be a future for this group? How could we take this group to
a higher level? what do you want from the group?
