Hey all,

I wanted to give you guys some more information about the tournament and answer some questions I have been getting. There is A LOT of information in this email, please read everything. We are still waiting on our final 2 teams. The tournament is a Select Flight event so USAU has asked me to reserve some spots for Select tier teams that they are reaching out to. If they do not find Select teams to fill the bids I do have a few teams waiting to take the spots.

For a list of accepted teams you may go to this page to see:

Northeast Mixed will be a USAU sanctioned tournament, this means that everyone will have to submit a roster and register their team on the USAU site. I have attached a help document from USAU and you may also visit this page if you need more help (http://play.usaultimate.org/members/help/). If you are having any problems, please let me know and I will try to assist you or get USAU to aid.
This MUST be done by Monday June 15th!

The field site will be at:

Blue Sky Polo Club
380 Bart Bull Rd.
Middletown, NY 10941

This site has been used for Metro NY sectionals for a long time now and recently organizers in the area have been using it for other big tournaments as well as college regionals. The owner of the fields had an issue during college regionals and has been very hesitant to rent us the fields. There will be very specific areas where you can park your car and if myself or one of the other TD’s instructs you to park somewhere, please listen or you may be barred from any more LIU or DiscNY tournaments. DO NOT SPEED on Bart Bull Rd! It is a small town and the neighbors will complain and possibly call the police. In addition do not swim in the pond near the fields, that is a big no-no.

Be sure to clean up after yourselves. This seems silly that it needs to be said but sadly it does need to be said. We will be keeping track of who is on what sideline. You will be given trash bags, just put all garbage in the bags and leave it on the sideline. If you need to change sidelines you may leave any bags with trash, just tie it up and we will be picking up bags throughout the day. Also there is no glass or alcohol at the fields.

Each team will be given bagels, fruit, bread, PB + J, and water for each day. There is no drinking water source at the field site so you will need to fill your water bottles ahead of time just in case. Each team will be getting a few cases of water at least.

A trainer will be ready for both days for all of your injury needs before games start through the end of games. In case of serious injury or medical emergency, the closest hospital is:

Orange Regional Medical Center
707 East Main Street
Middletown, NY

for more minor medical emergencies you can use their “Fast Track” service at the same address but the phone number for that is:

If you are looking for hotels there are a few hotels very close to the fields:

Howard Johnson
551 Route 211 East
Middletown, NY 10940

Super 8
563 Route 211 E
Middletown, NY 10940

Holiday Inn Express
2105 NY-208
Montgomery, NY 12549

There are other options in Newburgh as well but those are a bit further away.

The schedule will be updated soon, the one on the USAU site was just a test. There will be pool play Saturday with bracket play Sunday. Everyone will have the ability to play at least 6 games through the weekend.
Preliminary Seeding are as follows, please let me know if you feel there should be any changes (please also keep in mind the other two spots may change seeding):

1. The Muff ’N' Men
2. Mixed Nuts
3. Last Call
4. The Townies
5. Lake Avengers
6. Grand Army
7. Pandas
8. FLI
9. Unlimited Swipes
10. Varsity
11.Toaster
12. Dix ‘Y’ Chix
13. Dub Club
14. Mister Rogers Neighborhood Watch
15.
16.

Thats about it for now. Let me know if you have any more questions. Be sure to start registering you teams on the USAU site and making sure you create an Event roster and not just a Team roster. If you will be having players under 18y/o please let me know.

Hi everyone,

I hope y'all have been enjoying your weekend! I just wanted to remind everyone to fill out the form for Northeast Mixed.

Below is from the TD regarding the tournament.

Hey everyone!

Sorry about the delay getting the final details to you all, started a new job this week and its been hectic!

Unfortunately I was not able to secure a 16th team, my fault. Couple teams I thought were in had some issues last minute. 15 teams is a very funky number to make a schedule for... there was some good and bad with that. Bad part is that its a bit different format than usual with 3 pools of 5 and top 4 from each pool advancing. Schedule is changed and update here:

Good part is that there is predicted thunderstorms for Sunday (not the good news). Everyone will get in 4 games on Saturday at the very least with the new schedule (the actual good news). We will monitor the weather and hopefully we will be able to play out Sunday fully. As long as its not lightning or unsafe to travel then we will be playing on Sunday. Fields are said to hold up well with rain. Stay flexible with start times on Sunday if it looks like we need to change the schedule again to get games in then we will. My goal is to make sure you all get as many competitive games in as possible.

Great job to everyone with submitting rosters, I was able to send all of them to USAU with no issues! Thank you all!

Here are some more points of information (some repeats from last email, some new) - be sure to read them all, especially the last point with detour directions!

  1. No glass or alcohol at the fields.

  2. Do not speed when driving to this tournament.

    1. Seriously the houses along the access road have complained and there will be cops waiting to pull people over. So warn your team once they are off the highway to slow down

  3. Only park in designated areas.

    1. This was an issue at D1 Regionals so the venue owner is very touchy about this right now. There is plenty of parking, Volunteers will be directing traffic as you enter, no one wants a cranky field owner.

  4. Keep the fields spotless!

    1. We’ve got some of the best fields on the east coast. Lets keep them that way. Each team will get a garbage bag and will be expected to make sure the sidelines are clean before leaving. If you change fields and arrive at a messy sideline, alert one of the TDs immediately.

  5. Water (Rain and Ponds)

    1. Please tell your team to bring water. Each team will receive >20 gallons which should be plenty but better safe than sorry so don’t show up with empty water bottles.

    2. Under NO circumstances should anyone go in the ponds near the field! This is a very very serious point.

    3. Lightning. If you hear three consecutive horns please immediately get off the fields and go to your cars. USA Ultimate has a strict lightning policy.

  6. Puppies!

    1. Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash and picked up after.

  7. Medical/Hospital Info

    1. We will have a certified athletic trainer on staff at Frisbee Central.

    2. The closest hospital is:  Orange Regional Medical Center

707 East Main St

Middletown, NY

(845) 333-1000

They offer a "Fast Track" service for minor medical emergencies, available 7 days a week from 7am to 3am. The address is the same, but call:  (845) 333-1393

DIRECTIONS FROM BLUE SKY TO ORANGE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER (Copies available at Frisbee Central)

1. Take a L out of the grounds and head northeast on Bart Bull Rd 1.6 mi.

2. Turn left onto NY-211 W.  3.3 mi

3. Turn left onto County Rd 83/Scotchtown Rd  0.7mi

4. Take the 3rd right onto Crystal Run Rd  1.8mi

5. Continue onto County Rd 67/E Main St  0.3mi

6. Hospital will be on your right  0.1m

  1. Captains Meeting

    1. 8:40 at tournament center (see map below). Come meet our awesome TD’s, pick up your teams food, water, schedule and get any important updates. (If you have a first round bye you may pick everything up when you arrive)

    2. Games are to 15, half at 8. Win by 2 with a hard limit at 17.

    3. One time out each half and one floating time out.

    4. Each round will be 90 minutes with 15 minutes between rounds.

  2. Food

    1. Each team will be given a bag of bagels, fruit and peanut butter on Saturday morning.

  3. UltiPhotos will be providing Official Tournament Photography all weekend! Nightly highlights will be posted on UltiPhotos.com, with full coverage to follow shortly afterwards. Like and follow UltiPhotos on Facebook and Twitter for coverage updates. Also, you can Like Sandy Canetti on Facebook for teasers and updates.

  4. DETOUR ON ROUTE 211!

    1. Coming from the East, there is a detour on Route 211 and following the detour will cost you a lot more time. If you are traveling West on I-84 towards the fields then you will want to follow these directions so you can get to the fields as quickly as possible or if you are traveling from the East to any of the hotels West of the fields. If you are coming from the West heading East on Route 211, there will be signs for a detour, ignore them! the detour is past the fields and you are not affected by it. Please let me know if any of this is confusing or if you need help. Pass this information on to your drivers! Map is attached!

  1. Take Exit 5 (NOT 5a) on I-84 West

  2. Make a left onto Rte 208

  3. Once you pass the highway make the first right onto Neelytown Rd

  4. Follow to the end of the road and make a left onto Rte 416

  5. Rte 416 merges with Rte 207

  6. Make a right onto Stony Ford Rd

  7. ***About a mile down the road, stay Right to go onto Ohaire Rd.

  8. ***Once you continue on Ohaire Rd there is a Bart Bull Rd on your right, DO NOT TAKE THIS ROAD. You will not make it to the field as a train line will be blocking your path!

  9. Continue on Ohaire Rd back to Route 211

  10. Make a right to head towards Bart Bull Rd (the real entrance) or turn left to head towards Middletown (food, hotels, etc)

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. I hope I answered everyone's questions that had emailed me already.

Games will go on as scheduled for tomorrow. Score reporter will be updated with placements into the bracket soon. 1st place of each pool plus 2nd seed of pool c and one of the 5th place teams have a first round bye. Everyone else starts at 9am. Probably will be decent amount of rain in the morning but should clear up and lightning seems to have disappeared from the forecast.

Hope everyone had a good time today and look forward to an exciting sunday of bracket play.

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone wasn't feeling too sore yesterday, but first I would
like thank you to everyone who came out! But sadly, we still have some
unfinished business regarding the past tournament... aka payments.

The tournament is $15 per person to Bill. He prefers to be paid
electronically. If you have PayPal, you can PayPal him at
bbl...@gmail.com, but please check the "friends and family" box. If
you have an account a Bank of America, you can transfer money by
e-mail to bbl...@gmail.com. He also have a Venmo account and you can
transfer money to my username @bblinn. Cash at the fields is also
acceptable.

While hotel cost to Chunky. The pricing is if you slept in a bed it is
$42 (21 a night) and for the people on the ground: $32 (16 a night).
You can pay electronically via PayPal at chang...@gmail.com. Also,
if you have an account a Bank of America, you can transfer money by
e-mail to chang...@gmail.com. Cash is okay, but I would much rather
electronically.

Thank you and hope to see everyone tomorrow!
