Hi all,

I'm new to both Miva and Mivascript.

What I've been asked to do is almost easy: place a few featured items
on the front web pages outside of the Miva store, possibly with "Buy
It Now" buttons that will direct into the store.

However, I have no clue how I might access the Miva database to get
these items.

I've passed through the documentation, official forums, and this one
and what I've read hasn't really gained traction yet.

Could someone point me to a starting point?

Thanks!

-James

If these are static pages, you can just link to them. If not... what
version of Merchant, and what language are you planning to use?

The best answer to most questions is "it depends".

These are presently static pages. The items for display will be
regularly rotated in and out, so I was considering turning them into
dynamic pages using PHP.

I'm open to other alternatives. ASP is an option, but would require
moving the server, which may be unacceptable, so I wanted to see how
else I might approach it.

Thanks!

You forgot to answer the Merchant version question. If it's 4.x or
less, the data is all stored in xBase files (.dbf), and there's
probably a PHP library for that. If it's 5.x, they could either be in
Xbase, or in MySQL, and you'd have to connect to them.
