I have been using a firewire/thunderbolt type interface and Logic as a mixer for my live groups for over 15 years. The first time I triggered Steven Slate software drums with my Roland e-drums, I started using my kit just as a midi controller and using the sounds in Steven Slate Drums and the experience has been wonderful. To be able to go in after the fact and really dial in a drum sound has been a huge tool for my groups to be able to create large sounding rock mixes with seamless assistance from pre-recorded tracks, etc. I have owned at least 5 MacBook Pro machines throughout the years, and have had nothing but great things to say about Apple and their software, especially Logic. I recently purchased a new Apple M2 Pro with 16 GB of Ram for my birthday and had been very pleased until recently.
Are you sure it's not the pads mistriggering? If you quit Logic, and just run a MIDI Monitor (eg Snoize), and watch the traffic when you hit the pads - if you're getting spurious MIDI, then it's the drum module sending this data, and the computer is not the issue. Does it happen playing all pads, or only one?
