I also take this opportunity to offer my sincere thanks and appreciation to you both for inviting me to conduct the workshop and for the warm hospitality accorded me during the visit. My stay at Horsely Hill resort was a great experience.
I do hope that we will continue the friendship and the professional interaction we have started with this program. I'll explore the possibility of collaboration between SUNY-Buffalo State [<http://engineeringtechnology.buffalostate.edu/>] and MITS with the administration here.

Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department of Madanapalle Institute of Technology & Science organized Faculty Development Program during 3-5 June 2013.
Faculty achievements & publications information was shared with the resource person and then he was taken to the campus visit. First he has taken to the academic section and explained about the procedure followed at academic section. Then he has taken to the computer block, where administrative officer (systems) explained about the infrastructure related to softwares, digital library and Wi-Fi. There the resource person interacted with web designer of our college. Later he visited first year class rooms and applauded the sophisticated technology usage in teaching like LCD projectors. At last he visited our central library and interacted with the librarian and expressed his happiness towards volumes & titles of books, various journals& magazines in the library. Finally he felt that his visit was fruitful.

The three-day Faculty Development Programme on “Current Trends in Smart Grid” was organized by Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering at Madanapalle Institute of Technology & Science, Madanapalle, in collaboration with IUCEE, under TEQIP-II from 3rd to 5th June, 2013. The inaugural function held from 10:20 to 11:30 A.M. on 03/06/2013. Dr. K. Siva Kumar, Assistant Professor in Dept. of Electrical Engineering, IIT, Hyderabad was the Chief Guest for this function and he stressed the significance of Smart Grid and its importance in the current scenario. The Resource person of this programme, Prof. Mohammed Safiuddin, Research Professor, Emeritus, Electrical Engineering Department, University at Buffalo, NY, U.S.A. stressed the importance of electrical energy, effective utilization of electrical energy and recent development for efficient use of electricity energy.
The resource person conducted various sessions on “Current Trends in Smart Grid” for three days. During this programme, he discussed the basic concepts of Smart Grid, distributed power generation techniques, Smart Grid control systems, power electronics for Smart Grid and smart sensors & networks for Smart Grid. Each session was interactive. The participants learnt about the recent developments in Smart Grid.
A total of 68 participants have attended the programme. Each participant is provided with a kit consisting of a file, notepad, pen and CD containing the reference material. On 04/06/2013 evening, the participants were taken to Horsley Hills. All the participants enjoyed in Horsley Hills.
The concluding session held from 04:15 to 05:00 P.M. on 05/06/2013. The participants gave a positive feedback on the Faculty Development Programme. At the end of the concluding session, Dr. Mohammed Safiuddin (Resource Person), Dr. K. Sreenivasa Reddy (Principal), Dr. M. Raja Reddy (Dean – Sciences & Humanities), Dr. B. Venkata Ramana (Dean – Research & Development) and Dr. K. Ranganathan (Chief Administrative Officer) distributed the Certificate of Participation to all the participants.
Interactive Session
An interaction session for the faculty members was conducted with Prof. Mohammed Safiuddin on 06/06/2013 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. During the interaction session, Prof. Safiuddin discussed about the scope for faculty members to work in research laboratories like “Smart Grid Lab” at University at Buffalo, for one semester. This may be possible under J-Visa. During this period, the faculty should teach a course, besides working in the research labs. Prof. Safiuddin also discussed about thrust research areas in electrical engineering, solving a research problem and publishing research papers in refereed journals.
I am grateful to our Beloved & Respected Secretary & Correspondent Sir, Respected Principal Sir, TEQIP-II Coordinator and the authorities for all the support extended to me in conducting this three-day Faculty Development Programme on “Current Trends in Smart Grid” successfully.

Review meeting was called for by the Principal with coordinators to review the Faculty Development Program on "Current Trends in Smart Grid" by EEE Department.
The principal congratulated all the coordinators on the grand success of the event. However the following points were discussed for the further improvement in organizing the forth coming events.
1) Quality of the work shop kit should be improved as the quality of note pad, file and pen are not up to the mark.
2) Snacks may be provided to all the participants during all sessions along with tea / coffee.
3) Infrastructure facilities should be improved at seminar hall like audio and internet facility.
4) Faculty has not shared some of their ideas in the department meetings regarding organizing of the event, which might have made grand success of the event.
5) The resource person felt happy for the hospitality and as a token of appreciation he has presented a gift to accompanying faculty. This happened first time in our college.
6) There were no registrations till 28th May, 2013 and after the meeting held with Principal, AO (A&P) and the EEE faculty, the registrations were improved and made the event grand success.
7) An interactive session was organized after the event with EEE faculty, Deans, HOD’s and other department faculty. This was happened first time in our college, which was appreciated by the principal during review meeting.
On the whole the event organized on a grand scale.
Congratulations to Head of the Department Dr K.V.R.B.Prasad, Convener Mr C,Kamal Basha, Faculty (both Teaching & Non-teaching), organizing committee & Advisory Committee for successfully organizing the event.
