C-function video: Does anyone know how to convert MTS file into WMA?

I have the C-function video but I can’t edit it in Windows Movie Maker since it doesn’t support MTS file... All the conversion software I found online are really expensive. Do you guys know any other ways to convert into WMA or formats supported by Movie Maker? Thanks!
