Catastrophe Risk Management: Catastrophe risk management is a multi-disciplinary effort that aids in the estimation of losses to property and lives from catastrophes such as earthquakes, hurricanes and terrorism.  The development of catastrophe models and its use for risk management includes professionals from actuarial science, applied math, finance, statistics, engineering, meteorology and seismology.  Aon Re is the global leader in employing a comprehensive approach to catastrophe risk analysis of insured risks. Aon Re was the first intermediary to recommend a multi-modeling approach to assess catastrophe risks and has developed proprietary tools to enable reinsurance structuring, exposure management and optimization.

 

Job Description: The catastrophe risk analyst position offers an interesting range of responsibilities within the field of modeling and managing natural catastrophe risk. The main responsibilities include preparing catastrophe model exposure data and quantifying natural catastrophe risk based on commercial catastrophe modeling software.  This challenging position requires strong analytical skills, enthusiasm for the use of computer-based models, attention to detail and superior communication skills.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting brokers in risk assessment and risk management consulting.
  
• Running catastrophe mod! els for portfolio risk analyses.
  
• Preparing property insurance policy data for catastrophe risk analysis using relational database and data conversion tools
  
• Developing and using proprietary software to design and manage catastrophe reinsurance programs
  
• Responding to brokers, clients, and reinsurers on issues relating to risk analysis
  
• Providing real-time loss estimates of actual catastrophic events.
  
• Assisting clients in the understanding of catastrophe risks, sensitivity studies, ! and added analytics.
  

Education and Skills Required:

• Graduate/Post Graduate in Mathematics/Economics/Statistics/Engineering/ science with a minimum of first class and strong analytical skills.
  
• An advanced degree such as M.S., Ph.D, MBA will be an advantage.
  
• Proficiency in the use of MS office. Knowledge of MS Access, and SQL Query will be an advantage.
  

• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment under pressure.
