Going to see Violet

Sirius and Figol (anyone else already cleared for the Witch's house going?) depart with the apprentice witch to go check on Violet. They make the walk back to the Witch's home and walk down the path into her little home.

Inside, Violet is in a comfortable setup with fur blankets and a pillow of some sort. There are various herbal remedies nearby which mean nothing to Sirius or Figol and that don't seem magical from Sirius' spellsniffer spell.

One of the other apprentice women is sitting with her and monitoring her condition. She looks up at the returning group, "She hasn't woken up anymore." the woman says in report. 

Violet looks feverish and weak but otherwise seems to be sleeping deeply at the moment.

Sirius and Figol check the book. At first it's blank, but once held by whoever is wearing the bracelet, a page of text appears. First it is saying that they believe the spell they are writing will be complete within another day, then probably take additional time to accurately transcribe into the book. They ask for updates on Violet and on finding a Wizard's chest.

Vesser will go along. "Is a group of three even safe, with giants roaming about?"

In the unlikely event everyone else is too busy to write in the book Vesser will write, "Local nurse says Violet was semi-awake a few times while we were away, babbling or mumbling Wizard's Tongue. At the moment seems to be sleeping deeply. We have a wizard's chest.  -- Vesser"

OOC: I doubt from historic precedence that this will happen. It only works with the magic bracelet which Sirius tends to keep, and neither Sirius or Figol have shown any interest in handing off the book to anyone.

OOC: Beyond hypotheticals, per posts (all the way back in february, so easy to forget) the conversation has been in sorcerer's tongue thus even if Sirius and Figol gave Vesser the book and bracelet, she'd be unable to read it and would have to reply in the vulgar assuming someone read it to her.

Figol asks Sirius for the bracelet, and then picks up a quill and begins to carefully write in the Sorcerer's tongue: 'Violet still unconscious, no improvement. We are now in possession of a Chest. Wodinfolk here experiencing increased attacks from Frost Giants. It would be best if we could act sooner. Master Figol'.

Figol will pass the bracelet back to Sirius, or alternatively scribe any addendum Sirius may offer.

There is a good hour before a response arrives, with the lag in communication the book is probably being less actively attended.

When the response arrives it reads:

"We will transcribe as quickly as possible, but failing the transcription would set us back longer than taking the time to get it right."

A few minutes later it adds, "May require a lot of strength. At least two people"

Thariania watches Violet a bit. When Figol starts writing in the book she asks the witches, "Can one of you tell me about the signs in the sky people were talking about?"

Figol thinks, then responds, 'We can manage Aid. Send spell when you feel it is ready. Master Figol'.

"Well,we'll just have to see." He says out loud.

The apprentice sitting with Violet looks up to Thariania, "None of us saw it, the woods don't give us the clearest view of the sky and by the time it was reported it was over. But several in the village reported there was fire in the sky a few hours after the frost giant attack yesterday."

"It was off to the west some distance. Some say Thor struck something with his hammer. Some, perhaps influenced by Ragnar's heroic stories think it was dragons. We're more inclined to think another witch has used a new spell on frost giants. But we've not determined for sure, and we are considering all the possibilities including divine signs."

To the rest of the group present the apprentice adds, "My sisters are out casting wards and trail twisters to help with the Frost Giant attacks, they'll be back at some point and likely be tired."

"We're asking at least one of you who speaks Violet's wizard's tongue to be here for next time she wakes up, the rest of you may stay if you want, but whoever is here will be sleeping on a cold floor. We don't really have guests here normally and we've given up some of our own bedding to make Violet comfortable. So you'd perhaps be more comfortable back in town at Lord Ivar's home."

Sirius:  "Figol, I'm assuming you'll allow me to cast the spell.  We should practice the aid maneuver a few times with lesser spells, and passing the bracelet to see if it is possible.  If not, we will need some sort of battery.  I believe Violet has one."  Sirius inspects his pack looking at Violet's possessions that he has been safeguarding.  He has been assuming for some time that this spell would be in the 100's of strength range.

Multiple practice rounds shows it is likely not possible to transfer the bracelet before an aid spell runs out.

Ekie stayed near at hand, glancing between Figol and Sirius. When the aid spell and battery were mentioned, she spoke up. "I have my battery yet, as well as you both should still have your own. There may be a safeguard on Violet's own though and it might not be a good idea to use it." She gave a nod "I will stay."

Vesser: "So we have one magician's strength, plus all the batteries we own.  Someone should ask Coran Torvir if that will be enough but it sounds like they think it might not be. Can we ask some of the local magicians to Aid our caster? Or do they have batteries we can use that they will lend us?"

"It must be frustrating for all of you, being in a place you can't cast magic. Like I'd feel in a place too confined to use my weapons. You have my sympathy for what it's worth."
