The next morning at Cynewulf's hold, the party (less Sirius and Figol who have pretty much been up all night working on Wizard's chests) wake up to the sound of a warning horn of some sort coming from the direction of the sea. Ivy who had basically been waiting for trouble all night was up and ready to go first.
In about a minute the party is up and ready to go since most sleep with their gear close. As they leave their room, other warriors are leaving the hold as well and heading out and towards the sea with weapons ready. It's not a long jog across the town. Along the way, the party meets up with Grim who looks like he spent all night in the woods. Sirius and Figol can optionally come as well or can continue what they are doing.
As the group approaches the beach, they see a lot of warriors near the shoreline as a ship is approaching out of the mist. People are talking about how it's Cynewulf's ship. From the surprise in their voice you assume they don't mean Earl Cynewulf who is standing on the beach at the water line. Name reuse is a real problem in this culture from the party's perspective, although none of the Wodinfolk seem to have a problem with it. They always seem to know who they are talking about.
The mysterious dragonship floats from the mist and gently comes to rest on the shore. Cynewulf and a few of his men board it immediately and have a look around. Watching from behind the crowd the party can't see much, but as the group reach the steering oar of the ship a large, dark raven flies away from the ship. The men on the ship have a talk before climbing back off the ship.
Cynewulf says to a group of men, "Bring the ship onto the beach, clean it up and prepare it for the rest of the winter."
He walks through the crowd back towards the great hall, he looks preoccupied but when he sees the group he says to Ragnar, "Your father will have my support if he chooses to fight this enemy. I'll say as much at the Thing."
He continues walking back towards the hall. After some conversation, the party learns the ship belonged to Earl Cynewulf's father who never returned from a sea voyage some 15 years before. The ship seems like it's in the same condition as when it left.
Lots of warriors are mumbling prayers and holding onto their hammer amulets. They all seem spooked by the turn of events. It's like a ghost had come from the mist.
