It has been a great honour to take on the role of President since Kevin Jones' departure on 1 Sept 2012. I would like to pay tribute to Kevin who has done a spectacular job in turning around the fortunes of the club in the last 4 years. He and his committee should be truly congratulated.

2012 has been a hugely successful year for the club with the highlights being a 3rd place finish for our Div 1 mens team and a Premiership for our U15 BJL boys. Many other junior teams made Finals and Grand Finals. Our O35s competition goes from strength to strength and Mitchelton now has 8 of it own teams in a 24 team competition. Women's football is another major growth area for the club that I will continue to pay particular interest to. Thanks go to Brenda Mitchell for her role as Womens Director in recent years and also to Peter Hodgkin for his continued outstanding service to women's football within our club. The women will again participate in the high level Sapphire League as well as a Div 1 team and 2 other senior teams.

Major infrastructure projects this year have been the refurbishment of the referees room, installation of an electronic scoreboard/LED signage and a safety fence for field 3. Due to a very generous donation by the O35s, we have been able to purchase dugouts for field 2. They will be installed over the summer. Total infrastructure spending this calendar year has totalled $47000. We are also currently undertaking a $21500 field maintenance program including aeration and topdressing to fields 1, 2, 7 and 8. Keeping fields in such a good condition is an expensive exercise and the committee values the ongoing co-operation of members in keeping off fields when they are closed due to rain.

2013 will hopefully see a massive infrastructure spend. The club is in line for a $100,000 State Govt grant for construction of a 4 th dressing room and refurbishment of the existing 3 dressing rooms. Many thanks to Memebr for Everton Tim Mander for his ongoing support in this grant application. We are also in the process of applying for a BCC Community Sports Club grant for additional lighting (to training standard) on field 5 as well as solar panels for the clubhouse. Many thanks to Councillor Norm Wyndum and John McKay from BCC for their help. As you can see around you, work has also commenced on remodelling the internal aspect of the club. A new , user friendly and professional looking office has been installed and the hugely successful Coffee Kick Cafe will be moving from its current home in the bar to the old office area. Comfortable seating and a television are also being installed to create a family friendly atmosphere for members to take advantage of during training nights and games. On training nights tables will be available for siblings to do homework and coffee and light meals are planned to available from the Cafe. This project has been largely funded by the successful Cadbury chocolate drive earlier in the season.

The coaching structure for 2013 is sound with most key positions already filled. We are however on the look-out for a paid Technical Director for the U6 to U16 age groups - see website for details.

Sponsors for 2013 have been confirmed and are at a record high level. Our main financial threat for 2013 is the cost of water with invoices from QLD Urban Utilities expected to be in the vicinity of $17500. These bills are something we have not en-counted before and will put a strain on the club. With the above factors in mind fees for juniors are likely to be $300 (includes playing strip) for the first child and $250 for subsequent children in a family. Please bear in mind that a $150 State Govt voucher is available from 15th Jan 2013. This can be used to offset registration fees. More details to come but every family with a Health Care Card will be eligible. Children are also eligible if referred by two people in nominated professions.

Our senior mens team will again be coached by Leo Sirianni and we thank him for his vote of faith in the club by sticking with us despite not making the BPL in 2013. He has an amazing group of young players and with the club set to have up to 4 BJL boys teams in 2013, the future looks bright for MFC. I think we are in a perfect position to build our youth players and our facilities over the next 2 years as we push for inclusion in the in the BPL at the end of 2014. Mitchelton is a club that rewards loyalty and with the introduction of a player points system in the near future for senior teams, all junior players should see MFC as a perfect club to stick with and to launch their senior career when the time comes. I see Mitchelton FC as a powerful Premier League club for years to come while still maintaining its community and friendly feel and low cost structure.
