Dear Members

Football Brisbane today announced the makeup of the new Brisbane Premier League competition for 2013. My sincere thanks go to Lenny Ingle and the rest of the 2013 sub-committee for an excellent application, although unfortunately we have been unsuccessful. The club will remain in Premier Division 1 (renamed Capital League 1) for 2013.

This result will in no way alter the clubs vision for player and coach development, infrastructure planning and financial strength over the coming years. We have had a stunning year with our Div 1 mens team finishing 3rd in the League and with a great chance of taking out the final. Our junior depth is strong with our U15 BJL team finishing premiers and other top results at all the age levels.

The work for the committee and coaching staff starts today as we plan to work together and stay together as a club to gain entry to the Premier League at the next available opportunity - which will be at the end of 2014. Junior teams will continue to play BJL next year , although BJL will not include any Premier League clubs. Our Premier Div 1 mens team, led by coach Leo Sirianni, will be the key to our promotion. Leo has an amazing vision for the club to take it to the next level and beyond. He is absolutely committed to developing the youth of Mitchelton FC. The committee is investing considerably in player and coach development at all skill levels next year and beyond. It is these Mitchie players that coach Leo will be first looking at to lead us into battle at all age groups at the Premier League level, when the opportunity arises. We are a club that looks after our own by showing respect and loyalty to our club players. This also fits in with the Football Brisbane vision which will reward clubs, from 2014, that have long term local juniors in their senior team.

In summary, this decision will have no affect on the majority of our players and it is business as usual for the others (our top U12-U17 Divisional teams) as we set everything in place for our entry to the top league.

Attached are 2 memos from Football Brisbane which explain the new set-up in a little more detail.

I look forward to working with you all in the coming years.

Regards

Roger McIntosh
