Face detection using Camera.FaceDetectionListener in android

I am trying to do face detection for my android app using Camera.FaceDetectionListener in android .

http://developer.android.com/reference/android/hardware/Camera.FaceDetectionListener.html

Is there a way i can invoke the camera in background using startActivity block and then get the face coordinates using the above mentioned method ? 

Please help me on this . I am just a beginner .

unfortunately that's not possible, because the built in camera component is limited

however you could write your own extension and create a better camera component yourself...

however that will be more advanced and will require some Java skills...
