Listview is very handy, but I realized that I cannot change the height of cell/row, but only able to change font size. the cell/row leave much space even though the font size is small. I searched online and found out similar questions raised before, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/36110536/change-listview-item-height-in-app-inventor-2

the answer provided by taifun is here : https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/mitappinventortest/44QBbrMyQ6o/oU14HyRYYDcJ, but I did not understand how to do it, can someone explain more about it. ?

thanks

you can't change the row cell height of the App Inventor listview
but this workaround can do it:
see also Q4 in the Questions and Answers section http://puravidaapps.com/listview.php#q

Actually I am not looking for changing font size, but the row cell height. Please see attached snapshot, the row cell is too big regardless what font size is.

thanks

You can also invent ListView alternatives using three buttons in a sandwich,
with varying text.

See this Gallery US states names sample app for one based on binary search ...

it looks like you are using fixed sizing for your application, there is a bug in ListView for text sizing, switching to responsive may look better..

if you are still not satisfied, there is another way to get the cell/row smaller but it is not through appinventor, you'll have to use third-party programs for this..

Thanks ABG, Taifun and Boban's kind help on my questions.

@ Taifun, I saw your updated version, which is clear now.
@ Boban, I tried the method you mentioned, and change the sizing to "responsive" , but somehow for my case, the cell height is not changed.
@ ABG, I will check the project you mentioned soon.

thanks again!
