Sometimes it works and sometimes I have to wait for hours for it to work. Eventually, it works, but it should be more reliable.
I scan the code and sometimes the progress bar goes all the way to the end but my phone stays with the same Companion screen. Any idea as to why this is happening?

it seems to be, this is something, MIT should take a look at...

try to delete the folder /AppInventor on your device, then restart the companion app
let us know, if this works for you

hello Taifun,
not for me...
I've tried everything I've read, and nothing.
A couple of days ago AI Companion suddenly stopped working and remains loading the last file.
Via usb or emulator either.
I begin to overwhelm myself.

Just as I've been saying, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, it's like it decides to take a break sometimes :)

My App Inventor 2 Ultimate is working with the Companion so I am happy. As long as I have a reliable way of using the companion to test my program I can work with that. :)

Everything worked great until Wednesday. The AI Companion gets stuck at 50, 75, 83%. I downloaded 2.42 of the companion just to see if it was the recent upgrade and it was not. I cannot ping my device (using the ip address in the companion)

However, I am at CSTA and Jen Rosato set up her phone as a hot spot. I connected both my device and my computer to her hot spot and IT WORKED! I suspect that it is an issue with firewalls or something. I didn't try pinging the device when I was connected to the hot spot. I will try that this afternoon.

Mark,
Companion 2.43?
I tried AI2U after I saw your post but I see nothing about Companion. How do you get it to connect  to Companion?
Thanks in advance

Connecting via mobile hotspot works.

I used this youtube video to download the ai2u https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HI5t2eK61k. It really works great! I am so happy with using it offline but I thought it would be too hard to do but after following the video's instructions I downloaded it,  the only problem was that I didn't know how to get the full program til I happen to look in my windows program list and saw it there, so I tried it and saw the missing windows boxes that I needed to get it to work. my missing info was localhost:888. there is the sign in part though, but once you get past the sign in you will love it.

I don't think  it is conecting to hotspots cause its just a matter of time til it works, but then that is the problem, reliability! You need reliability! Everybody should use AI2U until you are ready to post it in the Google Play Store.

spangle216 I have been using the companion all along so it just worked the same as when I  was online. I guess if you are new to using companion you have to down load the app from the play store.

Mark: I'll keep on trying. Thanks very much.

See my post here about some things that can be done to try and fix this. Typically this happens when either an asset cannot be retrieved from Google's servers, or if your computer can no longer talk to the Android device. If you use the network developer tools and can identify which asset(s) causes the problem then we might be able to help. In particular, be wary of very large assets as they will sometimes cause out of memory exceptions on the server side.
