I am using the latest app inventor and a huawei phone with 5.1 Android on it . In my programming blocks I choose the ,Button clicked, bluetooth send text operation and add the text " ON" . Another button sends "OFF" .

When I watch on a serial monitor what gets sent to the bluetooth device it shows as "0 , for ON and 0  new line ,128     for OFF
Thats one device . On another bluetooth device I get  253 for ON and 244 for OFF.

The bluetooth device is attached to an arduino board and I am running the serial terminal through the arduino board.
Can anyone tell me why I am not getting text through?

It you run the serial terminal (on your PC I assume), you are not sending text via Bluetooth.
Please specify the Bluetooth shield you have attached to your Arduino Board and post a screenshot of you relevant blocks.
Cheers, Ghica.

I'll attach a screenshot later. About to go out. The two bluetooth boards are HC-06's . One has 6 pins and one 4
The commands are coming from my phone . I am simply watching what is sent via the serial terminal attached to the arduino board.

As far as relevant blocks are concerned I am simply using a "text" box sent by bluetooth . It is not sending text. ! it is sending numbers?

With the information you gave, there is nothing I can do.
Show a screenshot of you blocks!!
Tell what the BT configuration is!! Which Arduino board, which BT shield, and so on.
I do not have crystal balls to find out.
Cheers, Ghica.

Again, you cannot watch what is sent by app inventor using a serial monitor. And you an use only one BT shield on the Arduino.
Again, make sure that your connection is right. Test it in your app.
Then, you can test what is sent by sending something back from the arduino and see if you receive that properly in your app.

Cheers, Ghica.

Nah mate  . You don't understand . I can and do watch what is sent in the arduino IDE serial terminal .Perhaps you do not understand how that works . Try it ! I only use one bluetooth device set to slave as it must be to connect . The phone is master so there is no choice , it must be a slave . How is it set 38400,0,0 if you know what that means and as far as blocks go thats not needed . I explained its the normal bluetooth send with a text box sending ON but only a number is coming through . I tried a second bluetooth module to check and received a different result in that the numbers were different thats all.

Please re read the posts as i am not jumping through a series of hoops for you for nothing . Everything that is needed is there and if you can't assist with some knowledge then please don't post. If we had crystal balls then perhaps we could sell them for a profit?

I am not your mate, maybe I could be a friend of your grandmother.
Since you do not want to answer my questions, there is no point in continuing.
Maybe this example will help you: http://www.martyncurrey.com/turning-a-led-on-and-off-with-an-arduino-a-hc-06-and-android/

Be nice!

Rudeness and belittling language are not okay. Your tone should match the way you'd talk in person with someone you respect and whom you want to respect you.
Be welcoming, be patient, and assume good intentions.
I now edited your last post and removed everything, which was not ok, see also the Posting Guidelines.
Continuing in that tone may lead to forum suspension!

Make it as easy as possible for others to help you! You did not provide screenshots, you did not answer questions. You might want to provide these now..
Everyone here is volunteering, and no one responds well to demands for help.
