Adding days to the DatePicker result

I am looking for a solution to add a certain number of weeks or days to a DatePicker result. I'm looking for something like "startDate + 14 days" for example, where the 14 days will be pulled from an input field and the startDate from the picker. I do have the basic date info displayed properly.

Any help would be appreciated....

Hint ...

You will have to convert your date to either an Instant or a MillisecondsFrom1970

then add your interval, then convert it back to something readable.

I'll give that a try - sounds like a method to stay with the DatePicker rather than to go back to the Clock methods.
